Still sketching...

So, life is hectic as usual, but I managed to squeeze in a few sketches in wee hours of the morning (1 to 3 AM) since that's the only free time I have... Still working on figures and clothing.





I'll give this one more work, maybe even finish her digitally if I have time.

Sooo, I stole some time from real life and decided to work on what I'm worst at, that is full figure, drapery and details. The cape on the first one isn't as remotely as finished as it should be, but I got lazy...



This one will get more shading too.



I gotta practice drawing hair more... Also needs shading.

Sooo... CHOW when I should be doing other stuff. Again. Here's where I'm at at the moment.

Of characters and weapons

Sooo, since I have to scrape the Gangrel from the previous post because I really hate the pose (I still plan to do the image, I just have to give it more love) this here is Gaelbhan, my DnD character. An elf ranger. Supposed to be true neutral.

Whenever I play DnD, I play an elf ranger named Gaelbhan. And this is the first time I've had a Gaelbhan who is really "me" so to say. So, here she is. Pissed off and armed with two Cadaran whips. Still no animal companion, but when she reaches the next level, she's getting a grouchy, mangy, evil hell-hound like stray. Have to think of a name for him...

Here's a color practice and work in progress of Franklin Mott who almost turned into my favorite vampire ever in just three episodes of True Blood season 3. The actor is James Frain, and he is, drawing-wise, one of the most interesting people I've ever seen :)

Won't have time to finish him until the weekend, unfortunately.

Finally an update...

After a million years. Life is kind of super busy all the time so no time to draw, which sucks because I really miss it. Anyway, here's a sketch... Legs are wonky and the head is a bit too big.

Ok, I totally missed that CHOW deadline and if I ever finish I'm doing it on my own, for myself. What's tough is that I rarely do that, so I won't have any idea when it's done... What happened was that I was rushing it and I messed up the face. And the colors. And everything. Crap.

Everything save the face is half-assed, as usual.

Ok, ok, I know. I said I'd finish the Gangrel first but this week's CHOW topic is too great to miss!

But I'm doing the full figure thing. And I'm gonna try for the background. At least that. :P

On finishing what I've started...

I don't do that as much as I'm supposed to. When I pick up my sketchbook, whatever I draw is most likely going to stay a sketch. When I actually do finish something, it's usually for an online competition, never for myself. Well, I'm gonna try changing that. That and the fact that I rarely draw the full figure. And hands. Here's to starting, better late than never.

aaaand Siobhan. Or Deidre. My Vampire Dark Ages character, clan Gangrel. We're currently somewhere in Africa, the year is 200 AD. This is her flying trough the air (yeah, I should work on that too, heh) while getting her ass kicked, since I usually botch when I'm not supposed to. This is the one I'll try to finish, color and all.

Ugh.

Done, FINALLY. I've been doing this for the last nine hours, and that's only from WIP no. 2...

Also, I suck at drawing hands. And legs.

CHOWs and tattoos...

I'm really loving this new topic, and being that I haven't participated in a while, well, it's CHOW time :)
This week's topic is is "CA ink". Basically, design a character with at least 25% of the body covered in tattoos. Hope I left enough space on her heh...



Also, a friend asked me to design a tattoo for him, he wanted The Magician, the tarot card. He said he's happy with it. It will be really weird if someone actually tattoos my drawing on his body. Kinda awesome too :)

Two recent ones... Since I've been listening to them almost non-stop lately, it seemed only fair that I draw them :) Here are two extremely talented people, Johnny Flynn and Laura Marling:

Portraits...

I love portraits. There is just something about faces, the shapes and sizes of the eyes, mouths and noses, foreheads and chins. All that combined with scars, wrinkles, lazy eyes and other small imperfections that everyone has gives one a large palette of drawing reference. Also, the feeling you get when someone actually recognizes who the person you drew actually is, now that's pretty awesome ;)

How does this blog thing work again?

Well, here it is. It was about time too, since I've been planning to make a sketch blog for about two years. As for the blog design, not much for now but bear with me, I'm new at this.

Time for some pictures then, I guess :)

For starters, a few oldies done for the conceptart.org weekly competition called Character of the Week :) Not really sketches but not really finished either I guess... :)
